Old Canning/Mason jars

I have shelves full of the old mason jars with the wire flips on them, and some with the screw on lids.
Does anyone have any suggestions on what can be done with them? Years ago the lady next door moved out of her family farm house and gave me all kinds of stuff that she wasn't taking with her. So needless to say there was a lot of them. Among other stuff but right now I want to do something with some of them.
I don't want to keep them all, some I will make into something to sell at the store. So any suggestions?
Thanks,
I hope everyone is having a great week and staying warm because it definitely got cold here.
Good night blog world.
Kat

  1. Hi Kathy,
Well, you can make them into lights. I haven't tried this yet, but there's a way to do it. I bought a pattern from The Wooden Nail which explains how to do it.
You could put some different fillers in them and display them, florals, possibly turn them into a lamp if it's big enough. They sell those kits for adapting things.
Carmen at Primcats displayed a bunch of hers above her kitchen cabinets, it looks great!
I like the old blue ones with the zinc lids, I have quite a few, one of them is very old I am sure. I have some displayed on my small stepback in the dining room.
One day, I'd like to find an old canning jar holder to put some in. I haven't seen any yet.
    It's on my list!

  2. Hi Kathy, I have seen them with the reproduction labels. Blue Cupboard Primitives and Yankee Lane Primitives both sell them. I have bought from both and love the labels. Another thing on my "to do list".8-)

  3. Hi, Kat,
I say make labels for them( the blue cupboard that lorna suggested, great one's there)!
    Then sell some of them!
If you would sell them on your blog I would be interested in them!
    Love the old jars!
