New birdhouse. We got these trees about 10 years back on sale at Kmart for 99 cents. Our friends and family laughed at us because they were so pitiful looking and they said they would never grow. It was September. We hadn't been living here very long. Well they were wrong, all of them grew up to be beautiful health trees. I love them.

Kat got a new toy. Who doesn't love a great pneumatic staple gun

The tool box is from the Murphy Street Mall, (the local landfill) lol I planted a bunch of herbs in it. We shall see how it does. The birdhouse I made

My new hanging ball, filled with green moss and a beautiful plant with white flowers. Oh such a gardener. I don't know the name of anything

My dad made me this old swing a long time ago and it is moss covered now but still standing. I hope it lasts forever.

Just a bit of my front yard.

My ball is so heavy I can't hang it so here it is, my centerpiece. The flowers are filling in quite nicely.

Just a few pics from Memorial Day. It was finally sunny and I wanted to get out some garden decorations.
So happy it is finally spring.

What I Did today

First of all I wonder why my golden crisp cereal tastes like it was stored in someone's damp basement. That is nasty. I am emailing the company because there is something terrible wrong with this.
Oh and speaking of gross, those nasty, disgusting, gross June bugs are out. I ran and screamed and jumped up and down like a little girl out on the deck tonight. They are sooooo gross and you can't step on them because it would make that nasty popping sound.
On a better note I did finish a few things tonight. I have to do one of these for myself I like the chairs and the journal.
I hope you all have a great week.
Kat

These are just old chairs a did a little redo to.

These are for the store

I love these but I only have two feathers lol This is a Dee Duncan pattern and it is great, even I could do it and I am so much better with wood than fabric.

Thank You PATTI!!!!!!

I won some sweet annie from Patti at Primitive at Heart and mmmmmm it does smell sweet. So today the package arrived and my son picked it up for me. He said the lady at the post office went to get it and as soon as he saw it he said, "well we don't have to guess who that is for." It was all wrapped up in prim plaid paper lol.

She also added these really cute pantry cakes, one round and one heart shaped.

Also this really cute card and a seriously peachy candle. It smells so good I could eat it.

Thanks again Patti I love it all.

What I learned Today

First of all, I learned for a fact, if my husband puts one more piece of wood in that woodstove today I may very well become a widow. My neighbors are going to think Sweeney Todd is here.
I also learned: If you stop at a random stranger's house just because they have chicken-like creatures in their yard and ask about feathers, they will definitely think you are insane. They will also watch you as you drive out of their yard making sure you are not randomly plucking feathers from their chicken-like creatures. I did ask if there might be some that would have just fallen out and he looked at me like I was nuts and said chickens don't shed their feathers, they molt, and only in the fall. blah.blah.blah. How was I suppose to know that, I have never had a chicken, a python for a pet yes, but never a chicken. Tyson is the closest I came to that.
I learned: no matter how much you beg, no one is going to load the rifle so that you can shoot a crow. Like I can't shoot a gun, geez. I thought about driving around really fast and trying to hit one with my truck but I am sure the local police are going to frown on that if they see me. But who knows maybe they would shoot the crow for me. :O)
I learned that it has rained so much lately that the ducks have started flocking to the lake-size puddles in my yard. And yes they said no about shooting one of those too. We don't have any large water sources in the near area so where are the ducks coming from. Hmmm interesting. It must be a gift from someone knowing I need feathers.
I learned: that even as you get older walking in the mud in your bare feet feels good. Drawing a hopscotch layout on the table makes you want to find just the right rock. Cooking a big Sunday dinner always makes me miss my mom. Zagnut is still the best candy bar. And most of all, my friends may be right, I may need Ritalin.
I hope you are all having a safe and wonderful Memorial Day weekend.

Fire and Ice

I think I am losing my mind. I have the woodstove going in the kitchen. The front door open in the living room. It is raining out there and I love the sound of it dripping off the house. Right outside the door there is an old washtub that collects water and I can hear it like a puddle. I use the water for plants when it isn't raining and the birds like to have a little bath every now and then as well.
One minute I am cold and the next minute I am roasting like a duck. Growing up is rough :O)
Dripping so much it looks like a whirlpool. However, it keeps some of the dirt from splashing up on the house.
Kat
if you look up in the left hand corner you will see where it is screwed to the wood piece that holds the roof over our door. the overhand thingy. Can't remember what it is called but basically not screwed to the siding.
I would want to play in this if I were five years old again. Okay I want to play in it now but it is chilly out there.

My first Giveaway

I wanted to repost my first giveaway. I have gotten several emails from people that are having a hard time posting to blogs. So here it is, I hope everyone that wanted to can get to enter.
If you can't post and you email me that you would like to enter and are following my blog, I will keep those emails separate and still enter you. Blogger will hopefully get the issues fixed.

I think it is about time I got in gear and did my first giveaway. I keep saying to myself, "do it tonight" but then life sucks me in and I forget. Erma Bombeck wrote about me in her books. Or at least that is how I feel sometimes.

I want to say thank you to all the wonderful people I have "met" since blogging. It is so great having people to talk to and share ideas with that have similar interests. I have learned and laughed a lot in the past few months.
So now for the details.
1. You must be a follower, new followers welcome
2. Leave a comment on this post saying you'd like to be entered
3. If you post on your sidebar or do a post on your blog I will give you an extra entry.
4. You must live in the USA, for at least my first giveaway.
5. If you post your favorite quote I will give you an extra entry.

My favorite quote:

To be in your children's memories tomorrow
You have to be in their lives today.

I will leave it open until June 19th and drawing on June 20th. That will give me time to add other items to my drawing.
I hope everyone is having a great week.
Again, thank you everyone for all you share.
