First of all

I want to say Thank you for all the prayers and advise about my mom. She is doing pretty well. She is actually back at the nursing home. I thought seriously about moving her but I just couldn't do it. She was so happy to see them when she got back there. They were genuinely happy to see her too. I had a meeting with several of the staff and it went very well. It doesn't mean I am not contacting the state to make sure they know about it. They truly do love my mom there. Also we live in the serious boonies and there is not a lot to pick from and she is in the best one available.

So on another note... I am painting my kitchen. I got the new Judy Condon book, "Holiday at a Country Home". Stunning. Well on page 9 and 12 there was trim and a wall color, "besom Broom" at Sherwin Williams. I automatically thought, YES! that is the color I want. I have opened this new book about 20 times in the past 6 days that I have owned it and I can't get past those pages. Duh get the paint right?
So each year we usually get a set amount of money for our birthday to spend on whatever we want. So for my birthday I wanted the paint and such to reface my kitchen. I got the paint, I got two gallons so I would  be less apt to change my mind lol. They even honored my email for the 30% off.  They said that was over but gave it to me anyway. VERY NICE. I got my paint for about 50 dollars and since I am doing just the bottom wood part and the trim and cabinets two gallons will be plenty. (I have almost one whole wall painted already and yes loving it.
Beautiful right? I will post pics when the whole room is done. I have also finally decided to paint my china hutch. Black. I am so excited. The cool weather sets in and I am absolutely ready to hibernate and do stuff in the house. Plus it was so damp and yucky here all summer that it is better done in the winter. I have the woodstove going so drying time has been cut in thirds lol.
Oh, Oh and guess what? I went to Lowe's today to look for new door/drawer pulls for my cabinets once I paint them. I find these awesome black iron with a slight pattern on them. Well they were originally 6.97 each. I need at least 25 of them. HMMMM but it is my birthday present to me. When I look closer there is another tag on the bucket, a hand written tag / clearance 1.50. No way. Sweet! Perfect! Well the luck doesn't end there. I go to pay for them and they rang up for 20 cents each. Wow really? I can't even buy penny candy for 20 cents each anymore. Maybe they were a special order that the person changed their mind on. Well yee haw, lucky me. So I bought them all and there was 26. It was meant to be.
So for about 50 dollars I got paint and hardware for my kitchen. Still very excited. Cant wait to get it done.
I hope you all are having a great weekend.

  4. Thanks for the update on your Mom. Glad she is back and all is well. Gives you a little piece of mind. Love the paint color you chose and those pulls.... a wonderful deal. Sure wish I could get a bargin like that. You could not have gotten them that cheap at a yard sale. Can't wait to see the finished job.

  5. So glad to hear your mom is settled back in and the meetings went well. Only you know what's right for her at this point and if you sense that's where, then that's where she should be. Hope the staff take the alarm issue more seriously in the future though. I love the color!! I have Judy's new book but haven't gotten to it yet (it's in my stack...can you believe it? Usually I've devoured it cover-to-cover within 24 hrs of getting it!) I'll have to look more closely b/c I didn't see it on the pages you said....In any event, it looks gorgeous - wish I had the guts to paint - but everything here has so much wood trim and the floor plan is so open, I think anything painted would just stand out like it a red-headed stepchild. And what a steal on the hardware - I thought of changing out ours until I saw how much it was going to cost me. Ouch! Can't wait to see the done room....Have a great week! Smiles & Hugs ~ Robin
