My visit south and my finds

I went to a flea market and a few antique stores when I went downstate to take my son back to college this weekend. :( I hate taking him back.
Anyway this is what I found. Not sure if it is great but it is great to me. I guess that is the idea.  The coverlet is for my spare room. It is really heavy but thin and I like the design. It isn't old but I like it. Got it from a shop called Blessings in Brunswick Maine. Specializes in Vintage decor.
The jug I got from the flea markey for $12 and the plate is one of the wheat ironstone plates but she gave it to me for $8, the green stamps were a dollar for all. I wanted them because when we were little my mom would give us a bowl with canned milk in it and have us use that to glue the greenstamps in for her. Then she would let us look through the little catalogs to see what we should get with them. It was fun for a rainy Sunday for me, my mom and my bossy big sister lol. I am going to frame them in a shadow box I think. Probably just special to me but I think that is what Prim is. Memories and treasures from the past.  (So how did I do for my first treasure hunt? And boy if I hadn't had the car full of my son's things to take back, there would be tons more stuff because it was fun. We walked into that flea market, it was huge, and my son said he thought "OH God mom is never going to leave here.)

  1. Kat: What awesome finds...I love the green stamps. I used to save those to buy things when I was a kid...we used to get them at our "star market"...I still have a pattern box that I use to this day....I know that I have a pair of electric sissors that I also bought but who knows where they are...I know they are in my basement though....that's why I love old things from the past...brings back memories and makes me wonder who used those pieces before....I missed out on the Syracuse antique show this weekend...oh well maybe next year..can't wait for the summer sales though.
love the jug..I don't have one of those yet...
Are you playing in Misi's scavenger hunt?..the ironstone is one of the items. I can't play cuz I don't have a pastry cutter or ironstone...maybe next time.

  2. Kat, Love the Jug! What an awesome reason to buy the stamps! Don't we all long for the past! We recreate it in every way possible for simpler times! You did great for your first hunt! Sorry to say, I LOVE MY SON TOO.......but his stuff might have been put on the roof just to buy more "MEMORIES"! LOL

  7. Great finds Kat!! Love those green stamps. They were still giving green stamps when Hubby and I married in 1967. The shadow box is a great idea.
