First of all

I want to say Thank you for all the prayers and advise about my mom. She is doing pretty well. She is actually back at the nursing home. I thought seriously about moving her but I just couldn't do it. She was so happy to see them when she got back there. They were genuinely happy to see her too. I had a meeting with several of the staff and it went very well. It doesn't mean I am not contacting the state to make sure they know about it. They truly do love my mom there. Also we live in the serious boonies and there is not a lot to pick from and she is in the best one available.

So on another note... I am painting my kitchen. I got the new Judy Condon book, "Holiday at a Country Home". Stunning. Well on page 9 and 12 there was trim and a wall color, "besom Broom" at Sherwin Williams. I automatically thought, YES! that is the color I want. I have opened this new book about 20 times in the past 6 days that I have owned it and I can't get past those pages. Duh get the paint right?
So each year we usually get a set amount of money for our birthday to spend on whatever we want. So for my birthday I wanted the paint and such to reface my kitchen. I got the paint, I got two gallons so I would  be less apt to change my mind lol. They even honored my email for the 30% off.  They said that was over but gave it to me anyway. VERY NICE. I got my paint for about 50 dollars and since I am doing just the bottom wood part and the trim and cabinets two gallons will be plenty. (I have almost one whole wall painted already and yes loving it.
Beautiful right? I will post pics when the whole room is done. I have also finally decided to paint my china hutch. Black. I am so excited. The cool weather sets in and I am absolutely ready to hibernate and do stuff in the house. Plus it was so damp and yucky here all summer that it is better done in the winter. I have the woodstove going so drying time has been cut in thirds lol.
Oh, Oh and guess what? I went to Lowe's today to look for new door/drawer pulls for my cabinets once I paint them. I find these awesome black iron with a slight pattern on them. Well they were originally 6.97 each. I need at least 25 of them. HMMMM but it is my birthday present to me. When I look closer there is another tag on the bucket, a hand written tag / clearance 1.50. No way. Sweet! Perfect! Well the luck doesn't end there. I go to pay for them and they rang up for 20 cents each. Wow really? I can't even buy penny candy for 20 cents each anymore. Maybe they were a special order that the person changed their mind on. Well yee haw, lucky me. So I bought them all and there was 26. It was meant to be.
So for about 50 dollars I got paint and hardware for my kitchen. Still very excited. Cant wait to get it done.
I hope you all are having a great weekend.

And I say to myself, What a crazy life

Phew my life is a whirlwind of craziness. I am so glad I started blogging. Even though I haven't posted a lot of Prim recently I still love getting on and seeing what everyone else is up to. It is like the calm in my storm.

My mom is in a nursing home, in the residential unit for dementia patients. Saturday morning about 6am the phone rings. Caller ID says it is the nursing home, I thought I was going to faint when I read it, knowing it couldn't be good. Mom had gotten out in the night and they didn't find her until morning. We have had some very cold nights here already, down in the 20s. Well Thank God it was only down to about 38 that night. The nurse is telling me what happened, I just keep saying, "is she alright". I couldn't think. I couldn't breathe.
When I got to the emergency room and saw my sweet tiny mom all wrapped up and under this weird heating equipment it just got worse. They were not very optimistic. Her body temp was only 80. It was so scary.

Well she is one tough lady, within hours she was setting up and talking and awake. She spent a few days in intensive care, watching for organ failure and also the other effects of hypothermia.
Tomorrow I have a meeting at the nursing home, I do hope I can be patient and civil. My mom is back there now, on a different floor, for rehab. she will need some physical therapy, and still on IV antibiotics for the pneumonia/fever. She is very weak, but she was in such a good mood yesterday.

I really want to go there and yell and scream at them. I don't want to hear the excuses. I don't really know what they can say to make it better. It would be different if this was the first time but it is not.
What do I do, what do I say? We have put the care of our loved ones in their hands. All I ask is that they keep her safe. That is all I have ever asked. They knew the alarms weren't working but hadn't gotten them fixed. They thought it would be okay. WELL it wasn't. My mom has been there so long I can't move her. That would be so traumatizing to her as well. I wish I could bring her home but I know I can't care for her.
Anyone have any suggestions?
Thanks for listening.

Oh NO Not SNOW

It is that time of year I know but seriously not ready... It is calling for snow tonight and 25 degrees... I have had the woodstove going all day and it is prettttty toasty in here...
I made another attempt at making my own patterns. I am better with wood but this was fun.
I have a blue one almost done for my friend's birthday. This one is actually an orange color and is great for fall decorating.
In the making. I baked bloomers and dresses at lunch time. Love working from home :)
My sunflowers have finally blossomed and they look more like black eyed susans. If we really get snow tonight that might be all they look like this year lol.
Either I have really small sunflowers or realllllly big bees
I have made some other things but can't put them on my blog because they are Christmas gifts and the recipients might see them. Santa says you better not peek. Hence I can't make it too tempting for anyone.

Oh and my son has a five day break so I will be driving down to pick him up on Friday. I can't wait. It is always nice to have him safe and sound at home. It is almost like a heavy sigh. Plus I am making pumpkin chocolate chip cookies.... mmmmmmm yum.

Has anyone started their Christmas shopping yet? Do you make most of your gifts? I love the holidays. I can't wait for Thanksgiving. It is like the kickoff for the festivities to begin. I am hoping to have all my gifts made and wrapped by the beginning of December. I say that every year but not always successful. I have a few days off while my son is home so I think I am going to get out all my pre-purchased gifts and sort them so I know what I still need to do and buy.
Well I hope you are all having a wonderful week.

Change of address

Seriously I have been so busy lately but things are finally calming down. OMG I am setting here catching up on blogland happenings. Again I am absolutely stunned to drooling at Teresa's decorating and home. So I have decided to just go move in. I will be blogging from the barn with the baby beefys. So go see what I am going to be seeing every day when I am peeping through the windows. Drool leads to here.
I do hope she has wifi or you all will never know how I am doing.  Do you think my saws and sewing machine will keep the cows up at night? hmmm. Well we will just have to wait and see.
I hope everyone is having a wonderful fall.

What I have learned lately!

So as you can see by my last post it was a little depressing here. I took a trip and went to see my kid and just get away for a few days. We went to a resort at Point Sebago. Beautiful and relaxing.
Before I left I packed some wool and thread. I packed a jar of staining mixture, and some fabric in need of staining.
Well I learned that a gas stove does not cook quite the same as electric. Also you should also double check the temp you have it set at.  I put it on provided roasting pan. Went to take a shower, oops. Smoke alarm is soon blaring lol. It came out great except for a few black spots. Of course leaving the door open when it is 30 degrees outside is not great. But smoke filled home is not either.
I also learned that directions for soap making are not always easy to follow evidently. (APP spring issue).
I followed them or at least I thought I did. It overflowed all through my microwave. All over the insides, yup looking at the picture still makes me laugh.
I decided after this mess to try it my own way. However this is still funny.

So after cleaning the microwave for 20 minutes I got the soap above. Better at least. So tried again.

Added lavender and orange spice oils. Smells great and just needs to be wrapped now. I made it in an old bread pan and then cut it into shape. Yup the exploded mess is still funny.
Now for some great stuff. I won this most amazing Halloween tree from Denise at Country Creations by Denise. Check out her blog Here!  Her creations are absolutely amazing. Everyone should have one of these trees. Thanks again Denise, I love it.
Haha, I know I need to rotate it and I will later. It is 11 and I have to get to bed. BUT this tree is so wonderful. Look at the painting on the bucket? She does great work.  Love it.
Just recently I did a swap with Donna, at Donna's Primitive Blessings. She sent me so many wonderful things. I will have to get busy taking pictures. I did get a couple tonight but will get the rest sooon.
The bad with the peppergrass, the light w/ George the bottle on the shelf, with herbs, the George light below. There was so much more and I will be sure to add those pics as soon as i get my lazy but moving and change the battery in my camera. I will post pics of our mini vacation as well.

So I hope everyone has a great week. It is definitely Monday and I need sleep. Be well, stay safe.

Ahhhh!!!

I feel like a chicken with my head cut off. My house is a mess, my parents bills need to be paid, my craft room looks like a cyclone hit it, I haven't had a decent meal in a week, and time just seems to be flying by. The lawn finally got mowed and now looks like a hay field. It's late and I have to work at 5 am. I really want to just skip the sleeping thing and clean the house and craft room.
This has been one crazy busy summer. Fall is upon us. Winter is right around the corner. I love Thanksgiving and Christmas so looking forward to that. I feel overwhelmed sometimes though with all there is to do. I want to get my crafts done before Thanksgiving so that I can just enjoy the holidays. I want to make my gifts soon too.
I would fire the maid if I had one to fire. My son is back at college so missing him doesn't make things any better.
I need a week off to just do nothing. I do have a week off in October but I took that so that I could put away all the summer yard stuff and get ready for winter. Hopefully it won't be snowing by then. If it snows this winter as much as it rained this summer we are in trouble.
Going to look for a pellet stove next week because burning wood is just too much work. I saw some pictures online of other people's craft rooms so I do feel a little better. Mine doesn't look any worse and for sure not better lol.
Well I just wanted to stop in and vent for a minute. Feeling overwhelmed and a little sad. This makes me feel better so I should go to bed.
I hope everyone has a great week.
