Talent Swap???? Anyone???

Hey I was wondering if anyone would be interested in doing a talent swap. I am pretty good with anything wood, and painting. I can sew do needlepoint and all that as well. My true passion is building and painting. WOOD.
So I was wondering if any of you talented people would like to do a swap. For instance you can look around, send me a picture of something you want made, (or out of a magazine we both have lol) I will do the same with what you create. Then we swap. Of course I know there are some pretty large wood items so it would have to be something we could each ship reasonably.
So there could be more details if we want but we could work those out individually. There really isn't anything I can't make with wood. (except carving takes a very long time).
Any takers????
Hope everyone is having a great weekend.

Hall Chair/Entry way

I hung this cute little box for keys. The mittens are only hanging out because someone said I should of made it a storage bench. It already is.
I am very happy with how the entry way is looking.
I love these black chairs that my friend gave me a long time ago. I should put tacks in them so no one will actually set in them. I took the curtain down and I am going to make a prairie curtain to hang on the inside so the molding shows. I am going to paint the door on the inside "Plantation Red". Old Village Paint. I love that paint. Just an update. When I look at the room and the laundry room also, I say hmmm I have made everything in these rooms other than the chairs and little dresser. SO MUCH FUN. I LOVE BUILDING

Hall Chair/Bench

Well it is finally done and brought back upstairs. Woo that got heavy about half way up. Anyway that chalkboard won't stay there I just put it there for now because it was hanging on the wall behind the chair once it came up.
I really like it and all the mittens/hats and such can go in it. I think I should put a little basket on the side on a nail or something because that is where everything gets dropped when we come in the house.

Actually there was a little dresser there before and if we had things that we wanted to remember to take with us when we left we put it there. I don't want the seat to be another flat surface for things to get piled. Do you know what I mean?
Any suggestions? (Now how to post instructions and pattern? hmmm I will figure it out.)

Well it is done and I am off to finish some Easter/spring creations.
Have a great day all.

Tutorial #1 Grunging tealights

I know you all probably already know how to do this but I am going to try to do tutorials for those out there that might not. I have been crafting for a long time and I have still learned so much in the last six weeks. I have enjoyed all that everyone shares so much.
So here it is. Not sure how to do this but I am assuming it is like a regular post and so I am starting with something small and simple.

First I gather up some spices. In the bowl I have cinnamon, nutmeg, and some instant coffee grounds for texture. You can use whatever you want.
First I paint them black, but you can use dark brown. I use just cheap walmart paint or whatever you can find.
While the paint is still wet I sprinkle the spice mixture over them with a spoon. Tap off any excess. If you see a white spot you missed, just dab it with some more paint and resprinkle. Set it aside to dry. I use an old plastic placemat that I got for like 10 cents and as you can see it gets used for all kinds of things lol.
Drying Drying Drying. Now I should be picking up some of my mess and putting away the spices and paint. Clean the paint brush now. (Dawn)
Once they are dry and this doesn't usually take too long but that depends on temps, you will be able to tell.
I put some Modge Podge on a plate and I use a pretty stiff cheap brush ( I think they are basting brushes or something I got them in a pack of three from the dollar store) and brush them all around with the ModPodge.

Drying Drying Drying. Now time to put away the ModPodge and clean up the other mess, clean the brush/and plate with Dawn dish soap. (Well I use original Dawn to clean all my brushes, and I have for over 20 years and I am still using the same brushes I bought 20 years ago for painting).
Okay all done, The picture doesn't look great but they do in RL.
You can add more spices after you do the modge podge if you want and then just modpodge again. Depends on how you want them to look. I like mine just like this.

(I do the same thing when I am making grungy candles, sort of) I am doing some of those later so I will post that as well.

I hope someone gets something useful out of this. They are fun and very very quick to do.
Have a great weekend.

My location picture

This is my location picture for the fun that Misi is hosting from March 9th - April 15th. It is a scavenger hunt. I think this is going to be so much fun. I probably could of picked a better spot for my picture but oh well I figure I can display on the washer and it will work fine. Since my table is covered in fabric right now. Making a quilt.

Junking

I officially start my vacation today at 4:00 pm. Very excited. Tomorrow I have to run some errands so I think I am going junking. I will make a trip to the dump on my way. I have emptied out so many drawers and shelves I have room for more now.
However, if the man living here lol, looks at me like I am insane when I get back I am blaming it all on you guys. If it is a really really good shopping adventure you all will have to decide whose house I will be staying at on which day lol. jk.
Of course it is going to be -20 degrees tonight so I won't be leaving too early.
Have a great weekend all.

Premier Issue

I got the premier issue of A Primitive Place today. I am so excited. I can't believe I got one out of the blue. So lucky. I wish they would tell us what color or kind of paint was used in some of the rooms. I wonder if I email someone they will tell me.
Just three mores days to work and then I will be on vacation. I can't wait. I spent a lot of time Sunday cleaning out the laundry room/bathroom. I think there should only be so much in each room before you officially become a packrat. I think it will be much better when I use some of the 15 bottles of spray cleaners. I actually filled a body size trash bags. Well not just from that room but just one drawer from another room.
Now I need ceiling paint. What color do you all paint your ceilings? Tell me quick before I go shopping. :)
I hope you are all having a great week.
