Closet Makeover

I am not a hoarder, I might be a bit of a pack-rat though. I have started the closet/pantry makeover. I want to post pictures because I want to see for myself the change. I am however praying that I am not the only one in blogger world that has closets like this.

This seems to be the "where do I put this" closet. It had baking stuff, bigger small appliances, even my son's ski boots are in there. Bags for everything you can imagine. Receipts, paperwork, manuals for everything we have ever owned. My son's kindergarten/daycare stuff. Mind you he went to day care for about 3 months when we first moved to Maine, he went to school for three days when he was five, we decided right away we really wanted to homeschool and so that journey began. So that small bucket of precious keepsakes has been in there for quite awhile. He is a sophomore in college. lol

So needless to say, there has been an issue with this closet for quite some time. But by the end of this day, it will be totally something else.

Before anything has been done, obviously.

Everything has moved to the kitchen.

First coat of paint. Now to the basement to cut shelving, oops picture is sideways.

The Pantry

I am going to turn the end closet into a pantry. Decision made. I am also going to paint my front door Plantation Red and the trim around it. I am going to make new curtains for both windows. The pantry I am doing tomorrow. The door I am not real sure, I should be able to have it open and since that is the door that opens to my porch maybe not right now. Might get chilly in here. Maybe even the curtains will get made tomorrow. I don't know what they are going to look like but we shall see.
Once the pantry is complete, I can reorganize the china cabinet. I might even take the doors off. hmmm this could get interesting. I think I am going to go search around A primitive place for ideas. I love that site.
Hope it is a great weekend for all.

Commenting on posts

Stupid question: When people comment on my posts, do I comment back individually? If I just comment can everyone see the comments? I don't want anyone to think I am ignoring them. I love all the suggestions and want you to know it. Also if i have a question about a comment will you see the question?
 Thanks for the help

My entryway

Here is my entryway, I guess I can start here. I made the bookshelf about 20 or so years ago. I brought it from upstairs and painted, sanded, waxed, and now I love it again. We each have a basket on the shelves to keep mittens, hats, gloves, odds and end type stuff. When we bought our home this room had paneling in the entryway. when I took it off there was a thick,, rough, black tar looking stuff under it. So instead of tearing out all the walls, I put in tongue and groove. I put in wood floors, built new doors. pretty much, other than the chairs I made almost everything in this room. The bread box on the little dresser I got at a flea market for $2.00 and prim'd it up. It actually is a charging station for our phones and gadgets. The doors go into two closets and the third into the laundry room. Oh maybe I should just empty out the end closet and build shelves in the whole thing and make it a pantry. I could take the bookshelf out altogether. Oh please help me decide.
So any suggestions, ideas, or opinions? What shall I do? I am up for anything. Well almost anything, I can't paint anything pink or bright yellow. That just would not work.  Remember my motto, "Less is more".
Update to come soon. I will post some before this pictures when I find them.

Snowfall 2010-2011

I have been reading and seeing how much snow has fallen the past few weeks all over the states. A few years back we set all time records with 10-12 feet of snow. I could stand on the snow drifts outside my front windows and look down into my house. You couldnt see out the windows on the first floor at all. By the end of winter, there was a path from our driveway to the house that was quite long because there was no place to put the snow. We had to park at the end, by the road and walk the path to the house. What a treat that was.
So now I read about all the snow family and friends are getting, and telling us to take it back, because yesterday's storm brought us another 1-3 inches. The winds were terrible though, and they blew all the snow into the fields or the woods. Last year we had to plow only about two times, the rest we could take care of with shovels. I am quite happy with the little respite we are getting from the snow.
I think our family in PA and friends in Indiana and all over have gotten a lot more snow than us. Sorry. I would come and help shovel but I am trying to get this blog up and running lol.
Well more another time.

Blogging

Blogging is quite an educational adventure. I am glad there are very nice people out there that will help. Little by little it is getting better. I am figuring some out on my own as well.

Re-decorate

I just got an order from Colonial Tin yesterday. Wow nice stuff. Very excited. I can't wait to get it all displayed.
I have to make a bowl rack. and a few other new shelves. I have come up with a plan. I am going to empty out a room and only put back what I absolutely love. New motto: Less is More....
I might even draw a picture or go around the house and find the stuff I think will work in that room the best. I have lots of friends who will want, or know someone who will want, the extras. After 30 years of painting and woodworking there is bound to be toooooo much.

Getting Busy

Okay, it is a new year and I have a lot of projects I want to get finished. I am going to post pictures of each and everyone, hopefully before and after pictures.
